Technical Writing Intern

Job Role and Responsibilities

As a Technical Content Development Intern, you will help plan, design and develop instructor-led, self-paced, and on-demand training content. In addition to supporting multiple modalities, the role requires a candidate who can develop both traditional and microlearning content to meet the various needs of our stakeholders. From foundational content to deep technical concepts, the candidate must be able to effectively conduct research, interact with subject matter experts, and synthesize content from various sources to create just-in-time instructional material for advanced adult learners. 

  • Technical writing and content creation is a key component of this role.
  • Plan and create HTML-based microlearning content for self-paced consumption.
  • Scope and develop traditional instructor-led courseware.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple development efforts simultaneously.
  • Learn new customer products; translate complex information and concepts into accessible learning materials.
  • Work cross-functionally and develop a trusting partnership with stakeholders, subject matter experts, lab teams, and other content teams.
  • Review and recommend technical and instructional enhancements for self-paced and instructor-led courseware.
  • Collate information from knowledge transfers with product development, support teams, and other technical stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Adult Learning, or related field.
  • Technical content development and instructional design experience for multiple modalities.
  • Ability to implement the latest trends in learning and development.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, Open edX or a similar content management system.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience with HTML editing and coding.

Additional Information

Location: Remote based work - Atlanta area preferred for occasional in-person meetings.

Hours: ~20 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility.

Pay: $15/hour with planned opportunities for pay increases based on performance and success in role. Higher starting rate available with commensurate experience.
